Step by Step CPD Package
61 courses containing 578 CPD videos
Each training course starts by outlining the pre-requisite learning and an overview of what will be covered in each unit of work. Each course then provides training for each small step within the unit starting with the practical resources that would best introduce the concept. Teachers are then supported with the journey to mastery and greater depth which includes the questions at each stage and support on how to effectively develop children’s language, reasoning and understanding.

Core Journey Resource Package
636 sets of fluency, reasoning and problem-solving resources for children to tackle practically and in books.
Each small step video includes a resource pack which outlines the recommended core journey to mastery and greater depth. Within each core journey, the content that children must secure before moving on is highlighted by a Strive for 5 logo. Additional fluency is provided for these questions to enable children to secure their understanding, either through intervention or as part of the lesson. To support teachers in developing their confidence of the expectations for mastery and greater depth, a marker for age-related has been included within each core journey along with questions from the NCETM Assessment and PD materials and the DfE Mathematics Guidance materials.

Complete EYFS Package of Planning and Assessment

All six key areas of early mathematics learning have been mapped into a progressive long-term plan from the Nursery to the end of Reception. Each small step has a planning and assessment document that outlines the children’s expected starting position and next steps for the week. This progression for the week is then exemplified in an individual training video which provides teachers with activities for adult-led tasks and activities for the continuous provision.

Live Subject Leader Implementation Sessions
6 Sessions per year
Each half term, Subject Leaders are invited to a training session to support them with implementation of First4Maths Academy. These sessions are available in person, via Zoom or via a recording. During the sessions, Subject Leaders are supported in monitoring depth of coverage for children working at each level within each year group. Subject Leaders will receive training on core areas within the mathematics curriculum, including recent and relevant updates, to support them with leading their mathematics curriculum.

Live Implementation Sessions for Teachers
43 Sessions per year
Each half term, all teachers from Nursery to Year 6 are invited to a training session to support them with the implementation of First4Maths Academy. These sessions are available via Zoom or via a recording. During the sessions, teachers can ask any questions relevant to their individual cohorts and receive support from our team of consultants. Teachers will receive training for the planning and assessment of the topics that they are currently teaching and receive updates on any new resources and training.

Complete Step Up to Years 4, 5 and 6 Intervention Packages
Recorded and ready to deliver
These pre-recorded and ready to deliver intervention sessions have been developed to support children in Years 3 – 6 with securing the core content needed to progress onto the next year group. Each programme has 24 lessons recorded by our consultants, to support Teaching Assistants in the delivery of intervention sessions. Teaching assistants can play the videos to the children, pausing at appropriate points within the lesson, or watch the videos prior to the session and use the PowerPoints provided to deliver the session themselves.

TA Training Package
Pre-recorded training and support documentation
Our training for Teaching Assistants focuses on strategies for developing children’s independence and confidence within lessons and as part of interventions. Documentation linking the DfE Ready to Progress statements to First4Maths Academy are provided to support with deciding which additional CPD is most valuable for the Teaching Assistants to access, according to the needs of the cohort that they are working with. A training session for Mathematics Subject Leaders is also provided to support them with leading the effective use of Teaching Assistants within mathematics lessons and as part of an intervention.

Intervention for Times Tables Package
Resources and webinar
In addition to our Teaching Assistant training and intervention packages, booklets for each times table are provided to support intervention for times tables. Each booklet starts with the facts that the children can already recall and those that they will learn to recall during this booklet. They are supported with their understanding through the use of arrays and multiplication/division triangles, before systematically building up the recall of the facts.

The Greater Depth Digging Deeper series has been designed to support teachers in working through mathematical concepts at a deeper level of thinking. The books contain 18 lesson plans across the full range of mathematical topics to challenge children at a greater depth.
